There is a new special issue up at the website. This is an issue about 3 artists and their journey - the title of this one is Homosexuality, God and the Church. As always, I am really interested in feedback

wow. gripping interviews. probably the best in the zine history. a very compelling read. great work, steve.
i am only familiar with the music and story of dUg pinnick and remember the dogman era interviews where he came out on his sexuality and loss of faith. at the time, i had given up on my faith and that really brought me in closer the kings x vibe of DOGMAN/EAR CANDY.

I remember that was the first King's X record that had full-on Christian market distro, and I always thought that was odd given songs like "Looking for Love" where Doug says outright "...I guess I lost my faith"...and he actually brings that up in this interview. I've never heard him address that before.

Yeah, dUg was a really cool guy - super nice and gracious. I am mostly familiar with their old stuff like Gretchen Goes To Nebraska, Out Of The Silent Planet, etc. I bought Ear Candy, XV and dUg's solo Strum Sum Up during the interview process. I dig his voice and talking about his loss of his faith was interesting. I read about his coming out lik everyone else a few years back, but that was the extent of anything I knew about him. I was really touched by Ric's story the most. He is such a prolific guy and his story was really touching to me on different levels. I was a big fan of his solo album Holes in the Floor of Heaven, I LOVED that album and still play it. I was a much bigger fan of that then anything else he did with Altar Boys. I look forward to the new stuff he has coming out. All in all I really liked this issue, the intent was to just share these guys story and not argue for or against anything. I'm not sure we suceeded in that, but the stories did get out there nonetheless. Thanks for the feedback!

I just felt some of them were missing the point, it was never intended to be a sin/not sin issue. I'm glad we did it, I think there is a lesson to be learned in it all.
