Steve, I have seen Serpent & the Rainbow. It was a long time ago though. I don't remember a lot about it. The book is really good though. Not really horror, more like an incredible adventure story. I'm half way through it & I'm really enjoying it. I'm learning a little too. I'm very fascinated by religion, the occult, & the paranormal. I don't practice anything but being a Christian (which I'm lousy at). It would be a lie though if I said I didn't own, or have read tons of lit on those subjects.
My upbringing was a little odd. I was raised by a divorced set of parents, one parent Wiccan and the other parent a Baptist.

Yeah, I have a definite interest in the paranormal because of the reality of it... I am a Zombie movie freak which many times has the obvious voodoo stuff associated with it, but voodoo scares me because I once worked with this chick that practiced voodoo, and the rituals they did weirded me out. I know that stuff is real, and voodoo is like this weird mix of pagan/occult practices that are meshed together with christian principles and it becomes something that just creeps me out...I'm sure it is probably pretty interesting, but I can't get past my aversion to it for some reason...even the old Lugosi flick White Zombie (which I own and love) scares the crap outta me because of the voodoo.

thanks, bud.
yeah, it's a great read that i found at a used book store. A fairly loving, but well researched portrait that steers clear of the more outrageous rumors.
Elvis came from nowhere. Poor. Untrained. A loner. Had a child's sized guitar that he played at a novice level. Loved black gospel music, but was never more than a distant participant in the scene. his rise to fame was weird, unprecedented, and a world changing event.
recommended.

i read a book earlier this year by a guy who knew elvis before, and then ended up working for him for years, and being a part of his inner circle pretty much up until his death.... he was a truly unique guy.

For Jimmy Page being up this guys ass, i don't understand most of what I'm reading. However the few poems I do understand are brilliant!
